Dr. Khin
Thein joined the Hebrew Home’s Research Institute on
Aging in 2000. He has a degree in Medicine from
the Institute of Medicine 1 in Rangoon, Burma (now
Myanmar) and a master's degree in Sports Medicine from
the USSA in Daphne, Alabama.
Khin is currently working on a study entitled, "The
utility of pain assessment for analgesic use in
persons with dementia". Funded
by the Alzheimer’s Association, this research
project will concentrate on pain assessment in
cognitively impaired nursing home residents.
In his free time, Khin enjoys sailing. He has
been sailing for almost 40 years, winning two gold
medals for the Burmese National Team in the 1978 Asian
Games and now competing in two-man sailboat races on
the Potomac River.
In the US Albacore
National Sailing Championships with his son, Thant,
and finished in 8th place.
Recently, Khin competed in the North American Albacore
Championship and fiinished in 5th place.
Khin is also an accomplished photographer, recently
placing third in the Hebrew Home Amateur Photo
Contest.
